HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Leadership Program announced a community-wide fundraising initiative to support Jeffers Bend Environmental Center and Botanical Garden for their project focus this year.

Jeffers Bend, a 40-acre nature preserve, provides walking trails, fishing opportunities, and educational programs for children and families. It serves as a hands-on learning environment that fosters environmental awareness and appreciation of Kentucky’s natural beauty. However, continued maintenance and development of this space rely on community support, according to a news release from the leadership program.

“As leaders committed to strengthening our community, we recognize the tremendous impact Jeffers Bend has on education, conservation, and quality of life,” said Elizabeth Grant, Leadership Program Student. “We are calling on local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join us in preserving this incredible resource for future generations.”

Community members and businesses can make a donation to contribute to the funding of educational programs, facility upkeep, and ongoing improvements. Those who want to get more involved can volunteer or participate in events at Jeffers Bend to support conservation efforts and ensure this beautiful space continues to serve the community for years to come.

“Every contribution, big or small, helps maintain the walking trails, facilities, and educational programs that make Jeffers Bend a hub for outdoor learning and recreation,” said a news release. Donations can be made to Pennyrile Resource Conservation and Development Area and mailed or delivered to Katey Barnett PO Box 1570, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
