HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Due to the ongoing winter storm and hazardous conditions across the area, Christian County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26; Tuesday, Jan. 27; and Wednesday, Jan. 28.

The decision to call off school for the next three days allows the community and families to focus on the winter storm, remain safe, and get to the other side of this weather event safely. The extended cold temperatures behind this system will not allow the necessary thawing to occur to safely return to school.

During the next three days campuses will be closed. Additionally, all CCPS games, events, practices, and extracurricular activities are canceled through Wednesday, Jan. 28. Families, students, and staff are encouraged to stay home and remain off the roads so that the highway departments and emergency services can appropriately perform their duties.

Inspire Early Learning Center will also be closed through Wednesday.

These days will be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days #2, #3, and #4. If families are able, students should complete NTI work for these days. CCPS understands that winter weather, power outages, or other unforeseen circumstances may make this difficult. Schools and staff will be flexible and accommodate situations that interfere with a student’s ability to participate. Families with questions may reach out through ParentSquare, Google Classroom, or email.

The use of NTI coursework allows the district to maintain Spring Break and prevents the extension of in-person instruction beyond Memorial Day.

As this winter storm brings extremely cold temperatures and the potential for ice, snow, and power disruptions, families and staff are encouraged to take necessary precautions to stay safe and prepared. The safety of students, staff, and families remains top priority. CCPS will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any updates through ParentSquare, official CCPS social media channels, and local media.
