HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A couple has donated over 200 uniforms totaling $20,000 to the Bud Hudson Junior Pro Football League held by Christian County Public Schools.
Steven and Tracy Kelly donated both tops and bottoms to the league, making it the largest single gift to the league it its 73 years of operation, according to a press release from Bud Hudson League.
“I played in the Bud Hudson league and for Coach Hudson. I can’t put a dollar amount on what I would owe either the late Coach H.E. ‘Bud’ Hudson, or his league, were I to compensate either for the life lessons imparted to me and my friends and neighbors during that formative time in all our childhoods,” said Kelley.
Christian County High School Youth Development Coordinator Fletcher Long said he played with Kelley on the league and were on the same team as kids. “That experience apparently engendered in the two of us a still existent love and appreciation for the game.”
Registration is starting up soon and signups are open with the on-time deadline July 20 for $100 and the late deadline will begin July 21 for $125. More information can be found on the CCPS website.
The league will pass out equipment on Aug. 5 with play to begin in September. Uniforms are hoped to be passed out by the opener.
