HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County Public Schools has announced the upcoming retirement of Pembroke Elementary School Principal Dana Gary, who has served as the principal since 2015.

Gary began her teaching career at Milbrooke Elementary in 1996. The Christian County School System is the only system she has ever been a part of.

“I credit the system for helping to shape me into the person I am today, as both a student and an educator in the system,” Gary said. “My education journey has come full circle as I started my education as a student at Pembroke Elementary School and now retiring as the principal.”

Following ten years of teaching at Millbrooke, she spent seven years at South Christian Elementary as a teacher and later curriculum specialist, according to a news release from CCPS. Prior to being named principal at Pembroke Elementary, she served as an instructional behavior coach with the district serving Holiday and Hopkinsville Middle Schools.

“Ms. Gary is a true gem in our school district,” said CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “As an educator, she has devoted her entire career to CCPS which is quite remarkable. Ms. Gary has been an integral part of Pembroke Elementary’s success and has been instrumental in shaping the school’s culture. She is respected by her colleagues and loved by her students. While we are happy for the next chapter for Ms. Gary, she will no doubt be missed.”

A council will begin the process of selecting a new principal for Pembroke Elementary School with plans to hire a new principal by early December.
