HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) –In an effort to round up more bus drivers, the Christian County Public School System is hosting a Bus Driver Road-EO on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Christian County Schools, like many school districts across the country, is facing a dire problem when it comes to a shortage of drivers for our buses, according to a press release from Superintendent Chris Bentzel. Interested drivers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid drivers license to participate at the Road-EO. Participants will then be able to test drive a school bus on a closed practice course.
There will also be staff to assist interested drivers and answer any questions about the job. Christian County public school drivers will receive a commercial driver’s license with a school bus and passenger endorsement. In addition, drivers receive regular safety training from both local department leaders and a third party examiner who is certified through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The event will be held at the Stadium of Champions on 9503 Eagle Way Bypass. Food will be provided.
