HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The City of Hopkinsville is bringing back the Mayor’s Youth Council, which allows Christian County teens the opportunity to address community issues head on. The council’s mission is to engage youth and equip, inspire, and mobilize them to take action that betters the community.
Interested students have until Sept. 16 to apply to the MYC, and it is open to all public, private, and homeschooled youth in their junior or senior year of high school in Christian County.
The council aims to provide a voice for Hopkinsville teenagers, while creating a platform to bring forward ideas and enhance their leadership and civic skills. Participants will be able to interact with the Hopkinsville City Council and other department heads and community leaders within the city.
Applications for the MYC can be submitted on the City of Hopkinsville website, and should include a resume, two letters of recommendation, and a signed participant release form. Finalists may participate in an interview at the end of September, and the accepted applicants will be announced on Oct. 15 at the city council meeting.
