HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The 100-year-old Clayton’s building in downtown Hopkinsville is once again empty following the closure of Clayton’s Downtown Diner in at the end of November. Clayton’s owner, Adam Barnes-Gallerie, also previously owned The Tavern, which closed in 2022.
“We opened our doors on Feb. 24 and took off running. Since then, it’s been up and down, in and out. However, the time has come that I need to move on,” said Adam in a Facebook post. “Thank you all for the love and support, and I don’t know what’s up next, but just know as much as it sucks, it’s the best move, and I’ve got nothing but opportunities and possibilities.”
Right now, customers are still able to order his signature cheesecakes through his Homemade by Adam Facebook page.
The Clayton’s building has seen dozens of changes since it was constructed in 1876. The East Ninth Street building was initially a single-story house that was repeatedly renovated. The building continued to pass through different owners until it became Clayton’s Jewelry in the late 1970s, 100 years after it was initially built. The building still holds the same retro facade that reminds patrons of what it used to be.
