Teachers, bankers, farmers, firefighters, cops and more took the Alhambra stage to strut their stuff during three rounds of Lip Sync Battles to benefit Joy Closet.
HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Teachers, bankers, farmers, firefighters, and cops took the Alhambra stage to strut their stuff during three rounds of Lip Sync Battles Saturday night. All the money raised during the show benefited Joy Closet and their construction of Hope House, which will provide temporary transitional housing for foster youth who are waiting for placement.
Nearly $14,000 was raised as crowds gathered to watch their friends and co-workers lay it all out on the stage. Julia Roberts, the program and events director for Joy Closet explained that the funds raised will help with construction on the interior of Hope House and purchase an HVAC system. This is the first Lip Sync Battle fundraiser the organization has put together, and they are hoping to continue it in the future.

Will Owen and Becky Dearman hosted the evening and kept the theater laughing all night long. Attendees were able to vote from their phones at the end of each battle to pick a favorite. During the first battle, H&R Agri Power won over United Southern Bank with their honky-tonk beats.
The second round was for the educators, with the classic matchup of Christian County and Hopkinsville High School. Both featured throwback favorites, with CCHS taking the win.
The final battle brought emergency services head-to-head as the Hopkinsville Police Department paid homage to the musical Wicked, and the Hopkinsville Fire Department secured the win a rock classic. People were able to vote among the three winners for an overall winner, and the Community Favorite and Grand Champion prize went to H&R Agri-Power at the end of the night.
