HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Backed by the community, the Christian County High School girls volleyball team won the Region 2 Volleyball Tournament championship game against Henderson County 3-1 on Oct. 29. This marks the first regional win since the consolidation of the two former high schools, making it a historic win for the CCHS Tigers.
“Since the first few times we got in the gym together for open gyms we knew we had the pieces to have a special season,” Coach Zach Hardison told Christian County Now. “With the two schools merging there was a ton of talent but also a ton of personalities to mesh. The ladies put a ton of effort and energy to not only becoming better volleyball players but also into being better teammates!”

As the team prepared to leave for the game, students and staff lined the hallways at CCHS along with a drumline and cheerleaders to clap out the team and show their support.
“Throughout all of it there was a lot of noise that didn’t have much to do with the team, but the girls still felt that pressure and dissension,” Coach Hardison added. “They became a team that the community could rally behind and see how good the merger could be. We appreciate the admin, boosters, parents, and all the other people who have had an impact on making us successful this season.”
To help celebrate this win, the team traveled back from the game in style and were escorted by deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. With their lights flashing, CCSO patrol cars led the team on their way back home. CCSO Public Information Officer John Godsey told Christian County Now, “It is always important to encourage our local youth and celebrate their wins with them and our community.”
Now that the district and regional games have been conquered, next is the state tournament in November.
