OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel added a new event to its racing calendar on Sunday with the debut of the inaugural charity Corgi Races. Held between the regularly scheduled harness races on Mother’s Day, the event featured corgis dashing down a 60-foot track, drawing in dog lovers and racing fans for a fun-filled day of friendly competition and fundraising.

The event supported the Christian County Humane Society, with money raised from t-shirt sales and a raffle going to the organization. Guests could buy “Waddle This Way” shirts for $20, with half of each sale donated. A 50-50 raffle also helped raise additional funds for the cause.

Participation in the races was free, and the top three finishers took home medals and plaques. Darren Vandover, General Manager of Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel, said the event had a strong turnout and brought a fun, energetic atmosphere to the track. Due to the positive response, organizers want to make the Corgi Races a regular part of their event lineup. Vandover said the crowd was enthusiastic, and many attendees came dressed in themed outfits, showing their excitement and support.

Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel continues its live harness racing season through July 15, with races held every Monday and Tuesday at 1:45 p.m., and select weekends, including May 25, which will feature the annual Wiener Dog Races.
