HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Community members gathered on Founder’s Square in their boots and cowboy hats for the second annual Hoptown Throwdown hosted by Parks and Recreation on July 11.
Nashville band Court Taylor, who takes musical inspiration from artists like Hank Williams Sr. and Miranda Lambert, brought country fun and flair to the event. The band has performed consistently since 2022, playing at many venues, mostly in the Nashville area. Court and her band bring a unique blend of bluesy, gritty, and heartfelt alternative sounds to the traditional country music scene, according to the band’s official website. The band was also last year’s Hoptown Throwdown entertainment.
The event had activities for kids, including a bouncy house and cornhole, local food trucks and vendors. Hopkinsville Parks and Rec Recreation Program Coordinator Jacob Gibson told Christian County Now that because last year’s event was successful, it was decided to bring it back again.
“The theme of this event is living in the country in Hopkinsville,” he said. “There’s something for all ages, kids to adults.” Gibson mentioned that because everyone seemed to enjoy Court Taylor last year, Parks and Rec thought the band would be a hit again.
“We all enjoyed the music last year and thought it fit the country theme very well,” Gibson told Christian County Now.
The vendors on site included Nathan’s Famous, G’s BBQ, Boutique Cotton Candy and Kona Ice. Community members were seen in lawn chairs enjoying local eats and jamming to the band. Gibson said the plan is to continue this event annually.
