HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A portion of Fort Campbell Boulevard was closed this afternoon because of a gas line rupture.

At about 12:45 p.m., crews working in the area accidentally hit a 3-inch main gas line with excavation equipment, according to Hopkinsville Fire Department spokesperson Lt. Payton Rodgers.

The incident occurred near the Hobby Lobby in the Hopkinsville Towne Center. Hopkinsville Fire responded, and a portion of Fort Campbell Boulevard between Lovers Lane and Eagles Way Bypass was closed to allow crews a safe area to operate in, Rodgers said.

The repair took over an hour, and there was no threat to the public. Utility crews were successful in the repair, and all roadways have been cleared.
