HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Students in the Christian County High School marching band got to spend their spring break leading a parade in front of Cinderella’s castle at Disney World. The band proudly represented the area by playing My Old Kentucky Home mashed up with Be Our Guest as they marched through Magic Kingdom.

“The kids worked really hard and prepped for it, we only had three practices to be ready for the parade,” said their band director Anthony Darnall. “They are so used to performing for big audiences at big venues and big crowds, this is just another performance for them.”

Darnall told Christian County Now that this trip has been in the works for years. After applying and being accepted to the Imagination Campus program years ago, COVID-19 hit, and they had to cancel. Last year, the band applied for the program again, and has spent the whole year planning and patiently waiting for their time to shine.

The trip was extra special for seniors, who had the initial trip canceled on them years ago. In addition to the parade, the students had time to visit Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Darnall said it was the perfect way to wrap up the school year, and he was happy to see the students form lifelong memories.

The students will spend the rest of the school year prepping for their upcoming spring concert on May 2.
