HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Fun in the water kicks off Memorial Day weekend as various pools and splash pads and fountains open up for the season.

After closing early last season due to repairs, Bluegrass Splash is ready for summer with their opening day set for May 25. To celebrate, they are offering half price fountain drinks on opening day and giveaways between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The popular Hopkinsville water park has water slides, a lazy river, splash zone, and plenty of areas swim along with their snack shack to refuel and swim some more. For admission prices, visit the Bluegrass Splash website.

Families looking for a different kind of fun in the water can head to the Crofton Spray Park, located inside Gordan Park in Crofton. The park will open to the public on May 27. This free splash pad is completely fenced in with multiple fountains for kids to play in. Sheryl Byrum, the city clerk for Crofton, told Christian County Now the park is a special little place that attracts a lot of families during summer months. In addition to the splash pad, the park has basketball and volleyball courts along with a softball field, walking trail, playground, and a pond for catch and release fishing.

Those looking to relax and watch the water can stroll around Little River Park in downtown Hopkinsville. This small park connects to the Hopkinsville Greenway trail and has flower beds and seating. The large fountain in the center of the park will be turned on after Memorial Day weekend to provide a peaceful spot to cool off this summer.
