HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Christian County Public Schools has announced the upcoming retirement of Leigh Ann Stewart, Principal at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early Learning Center. Ms. Stewert announced her retirement earlier this week and will be effective Nov. 1, 2024.
“We are appreciative of the hard work Ms. Stewart put into leading the opening of the Early Learning Center,” said Assistant Superintendent Jessica Addison. “Ms. Stewart was instrumental in the transition to the new building and establishing a positive, nurturing environment that supports both students and staff. We wish her all the best on a well-deserved retirement and gratitude for her years of dedicated service to Christian County Public Schools.”
Ms. Stewart’s education career has been spent entirely with Christian County Public Schools serving as teacher and Curriculum Specialist at Lacy and Belmont Elementary Schools, Assistant Principal with Millbrooke and MLK, and served as the School Improvement Administrator at Freedom and MLK Elementary Schools. She also served as a school administrator at Cumberland Hall. Stewart was chosen earlier this year to lead the opening of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Early Learning Center.
Upon Ms. Stewart’s retirement, the district has named Kim Lint, assistant principal at Freedom Elementary as the interim principal at MLK Early Learning Center. Ms. Lint has a degree in early childhood education and has served as administrator in the district since 2022.
“I am excited to join the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Early Learning Center,” said interim principal Kim Lint. “In such a short time, the center has already become such a vital part of the community. I look forward to continuing the work started and building a bright future for our youngest students.”
The position will be posted on the district website and the district will begin the process of selecting a new principal soon.
