HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As over 300 runners take over city streets for the Hoptown Half Marathon and 5k this weekend, residents can expect multiple road closures in the downtown area.
On Saturday, Oct. 19 the half marathon starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:20 a.m. Several roads on the race route will be open to one-way traffic, according to Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation. However, the half marathon will impact multiple roads including:
- Main Street
- Cox Mill Road from North Main to Country Club and from South Sunset Circle to Gary Lane
- Mable Avenue and South Sunset Circle, from Mable Avenue to Cox Mill Road
- Gary Lane from Cox Mill to Lafayette
- Lafayette Road from Gary Lane to Hopkinsville Bypass
The 5K will impact the following roads:
- Main Street
- Alumni Avenue
- Sterling Avenue
- Faulkner Drive
- Phelps Avenue
- Cherry Street
- 15th Street, Greenway to Bethel
- Bethel Street, Canton to 9th Street
Additionally, downtown roads 9th street from 7th street will be closed starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 through 2 p.m. on Saturday. For more information about the race and road closures contact Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation at 270-887-4290.
