HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A drunk driver was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office after a hit and run accident involving a semi-truck Wednesday night.
Deputies responded to a call regarding the accident on I-169 in Christian County near mile marker 25 heading southbound around 9 p.m. According to a collision report, the driver of the semi-truck told deputies that a white pickup truck had sideswiped him at speeds around 100 mph, partially going underneath his trailer. The pickup truck went into a ditch and then continued driving down the roadway.
A vehicle matching the description of the pickup truck, which had clear collision damage and hazard lights on, was spotted further down the road. The vehicle was swerving between lanes, and a felony traffic enforcement stop was initiated. When the suspect exited the vehicle, the arresting deputy noted a bottle of Fireball inside and the scent of alcohol was detected.
After being arrested, the suspect continually hit his head against the window of the patrol car, and an ambulance was called to evaluate his head injuries. It was determined that he had two warrants out for his arrest and a revoked driver’s license. He was transported to the Christian County Jail.
