OAK GROVE, KY – On June 2, Oak Grove Police officers were dispatched to the area of Interstate 24 near Fort Campbell Boulevard in response to reports of a person waving a gun at passing vehicles. After securing the area, officers made contact with a man from Long Beach, Mississippi, and charged him with multiple offenses.

Around 7:00 p.m., dispatch alerted officers about a vehicle operator who was waving a gun. Officers located a vehicle matching the description near Thompsonville Lane. They stopped the vehicle and spoke with 47-year-old Tyler Hansen regarding the incident. During the investigation, officers became concerned that Hansen was impaired and conducted field sobriety tests. His performance indicated that he was too intoxicated to be driving, leading to his arrest.

Once in custody, officers discovered marijuana and open containers of beer in the vehicle. Hansen did not possess a valid operator’s license and was found to be in possession of a handgun, which is illegal for him as a convicted felon. Hansen was arrested on the following charges and taken to the Christian County Jail.

  • Possession of an Open Alcohol Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle Prohibited
  • Possession of Marijuana
