Elton Wayne Campbell Sr.

Elton Wayne “Hap” Campbell Sr., age 92, of Christian County, passed away on July 26, 2024, at Christian Health Center of natural causes. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Pastors Paul and Rachel Ganther officiating and burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.

Mr. Campbell was born in Christian County, KY on October 27, 1931, the son of the late S.V. and Dessie M. Armstrong Campbell. Hap was a farmer and businessman. Hap and, his wife, Ann were the owner/operators of Pennyrile Ag Oil, Inc. Hap was one of the first stockholders for the Hopkinsville Elevator Co. in March of 1968. He was a founding member of the local National Farmers Organization (NFO). Hap loved raising beagles and birddogs, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a veteran in the US Army. Hap was a member of Liberty Christian Church for over 50 years where he served as a deacon and the chair of the congregation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ann Smithson Campbell; his brothers, Gene Campbell, Billy Campbell, Sr.; and his sister, Brenda Campbell.

Survivors include his sons, Elton Wayne Campbell Jr., and Johnny (Molly) Campbell of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Karen Webb of Hopkinsville; his sisters, Rosa Lea McGurl of Virginia, and Wanda C. Nelson (Raymond) of Christian County; six grandchildren, William Clay Edwards (Nikki), Lauren Elizabeth Chester (Ethan), Evan Cayce Campbell, Claire Margaret Campbell, Nicholas Wayne Webb (Allison) and Bryce Campbell Webb and six great grandchildren; Arthur Edwards, Easton Edwards, Ann Claire Chester, Malia Gale Webb, Bryer Wayne Webb, and Keller Vance Webb.
