HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 25-year-old woman was charged with assault in the third degree after attacking a nurse in the Jennie Stuart Health emergency room in Hopkinsville.
Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department arrived at the hospital after receiving a call about a disturbance around 10 p.m. on Feb. 18. The suspect had been dropped off at the ER and was being checked out by medical professionals when she grabbed hold of the 33-year-old female nurse. It was determined that the suspect did not know the victim prior to the assault.
A police report details the attack, saying that the nurse was repeatedly punched and dragged onto the floor when the suspect stomped on her head. Additional staff was able to restrain the suspect and wait for police to arrive.
The nurse suffered from injuries, and additional tests were being done to determine the extent. The hospital was able to capture the incident on security cameras, leading to the assault charge and arrest.
