HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Community leaders, advocates, and law enforcement will come together on Jan. 15 for “Unseen No More: Hope Beyond the Darkness”, a human trafficking awareness and training event planned by Sanctuary Inc. and the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center.
Sanctuary says the event will feature a proclamation reading by Hopkinsville Mayor James R. Knight, Jr. and Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam. Human trafficking research and trends will be presented by keynote speaker Dr. Jeanne Allert of the Institute of Survivor Care. There will also be perspectives and discussions from a multidisciplinary panel, and an overview of training opportunities and resources led by Detective Ricky Lynn of the Frankfort Police Department Special Victims Unit.
Additional remarks will be provided by advocates and law enforcement. The training is designed to equip attendees with tools to educate, recognize, respond, and prevent human trafficking in our community, according to a news release.
Doors and breakfast open at 7:30 a.m. The event is free, and registration is required through Jan. 10. For questions or to arrange an interview, please contact the Sanctuary, Inc. business line at (270) 885-4572 and request to speak with Heather Lancaster, Sanctuary’s executive director.
