Updated 6:40 p.m.: A Tornado Watch has been issued for Christian County between 6:40 p.m. Feb. 15 until 1 a.m. on Feb. 16.

A statement from the National Weather Service says that central Christian County will be affected by strong storms coming in overnight. Doppler radar tracked the storm traveling over The Land Between the Lakes moving east at 45 mph at 6:04 p.m.

Wind up to 50 mph and pea size hail is possible.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – After a full day and night of rain saturating the area with flash floods, there is a 40% chance of snow in Hopkinsville and Christian County on Sunday. The Flash Flood Warning is in place for the area until 4:00 a.m. on Feb. 16.

Heavy rain, possibly mixed with thunder, sleet and snow showers may occur overnight with temperatures dropping to 31 degrees. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts up to 25 mph will also come through overnight.

“The rain that falls this evening will be on top of heavy rain that has already caused widespread flooding earlier today,” said a statement from AccuWeather. “Numerous roads are either closed or impassable, and that is only expected to worsen
through the evening. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected in the warned area.”

The Flood Watch for Christian County will stay in effect until Sunday morning at 6 a.m. There is a 40% chance of snow showers before noon, with the high for Sunday being a chilly 36 degrees and wind gusts up to 29 mph.
