FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With a big region game coming up against Trigg County on Friday, Fort Campbell High School football has been put on hold due to the government shutdown.

As of Tuesday night, Fort Campbell Schools are not allowed to have athletic practice or sporting events. The Falcons football team will not be allowed to practice or compete in games until the shutdown is lifted.

“The situation definitely puts our football program at a major disadvantage compared to our opponent,” said Falcons head coach Henry Mitchell. “Not being allowed to have team meetings and formal practices to prepare for a football game on Friday night, 99% of the time, produces bad results. My job now is to keep my coaches and players with a positive attitude moving forward.“

If the shutdown continues Friday night, the game will be forfeited, and an automatic win will be given to Trigg County. This would put the playoffs in heavy jeopardy for Fort Campbell.
