HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County Public Schools is gearing up for spring break, leaving a lot of families looking for activities in and around Hopkinsville!

Here is a list of activities to do in Hoptown with the kids whether you want to spend the week inside, outdoors, or are looking for some free ideas.

Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library

The local library at 1101 Bethel Street has a week of events lined up to keep kids occupied during the break each day at 5 p.m. through 6 p.m. They are kicking off with the No Sleep Slumber Party on Monday where kids can come in their pajamas to play board games and decorate pillowcases. Lego’s with Friends and DIY pop sockets will be on Tuesday, with a Pokémon party on Wednesday. Thursday will be a Family Bingo Night, with a Karaoke Party rounding out Friday.

On Saturday April 5, their Spring Fling finishes with their Spring Break Challenge at 11 a.m. through noon. Their regularly scheduled weekly programming is also throughout the week, which can be found on the Hopkinsville-Christian County Library website.

Explore outdoors

With this beautiful spring weather, it is the perfect opportunity to go to the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park, the War Memorial Walking Trail, or the Rail Trail in Hopkinsville for scenic walks or bike rides. Bikes can be rented at the library adjacent to the downtown greenway trail for just $1.

Jeffers Bend Environmental Center is also open daily from dawn to dusk with miles of trails and a beautiful pollinator garden to explore at 1170 Metcalfe Lane.

Kids can also enjoy one of the many playgrounds listed on the Parks and Recreation website in Hopkinsville, including the newly remodeled Westside Park in downtown Hopkinsville, and the Hopkinsville Skate Park by DeBow Recreation Complex for people young and old looking to test out a scooter or skateboard.

Family Pizza Night

On April 1, go to Hopkinsville Brewing Company along with the kids and your favorite board games, or borrow one of theirs, for an easy night out during spring break at Hopkinsville Brewing Company.

Their Pints & Pizza food truck even has dinner plans covered with a new, kid-friendly special, get a one-topping 7″ pizza for $1 with the purchase of any 14″ pizza for dine-in orders.

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County

The Pennyroyal Area Museum at 217 East Ninth Street will be open an extra day for Spring Break this year. Kids can visit the museum all week from Monday, March 31 through Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum has several interactive elements that kids will enjoy while exploring the exhibits.

Admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for kids. Ages three and under are free along with Active Military and their families.

Shop and eat downtown

After swinging by the museum and the library, families can walk over to grab lunch in downtown Hopkinsville at a variety of restaurants. To name a few are Ro’Mae’s, Ferrell’s Snappy Service, The Mixer, The Crusty Pig, The Local, or a coffee at The Corner Coffeehouse.

Families can shop for books, soaps, and popcorn on East Ninth Street, or check out a hobby shop, antiques, and more on East Sixth Street before heading to the Little River Park or the riverwalk.

Bowling

Southern Lanes Bowling at 3001 Canton Pike has 16 bowling lanes, bumper cars, black light mini golf, an arcade, and a full-service snack bar and lounge.

Every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight, they shift into a cosmic bowling. Adult bowling is $4.75, child bowling is $3.75 with $3.75 shoe rentals.

Fun Zone

Fun Zone is an indoor playroom for kids of all ages at 1015 Skyline Drive. There is a soft play area, pretend play village, video game room, sand pit, inflatable bouncer, rock climbing wall and ball pit.

A two hour play pass is $12 per child and a day pass is $15 per child. They offer $6 Fun Day on Tuesday and Thursday.

Movies

Avoid the onset of spring showers by being snug inside locally owned movie theater The Showbox.

Located at 4000 Fort Campbell Boulevard, their dinner theater is also open for select screenings from Thursdays through Sundays. Starting April 1, they will have lower prices than before with standard tickets costing $10, and kids tickets at $8.50
