HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Police Department has provided an update regarding a homicide investigation that was initiated this week.

On May 29, HPD said a suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jordan Jones. A statement from police says, “This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and no further information can be released at this time.”

Just before 12:30 p.m. on May 27, HPD and emergency crews responded to a subject who was shot at the 1200 block of Walnut Street near East 12th Street. Jones was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest, actively bleeding inside a vehicle.

Hopkinsville EMS worked to treat him, and he was ultimately transported with CPR in progress to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. No arrests were initially made.

According to his obituary, Jones attended First Presbyterian Church and worked full time as an operator at Riken Elastomers Corporation. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on June 2 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Brodie officiating and a burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be a the funeral home that morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.
