HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The City of Hopkinsville has reassembled their Future Funding Committee in an effort to further evaluate financial needs of the city and supply recommendations about funding and budgetary issues.
The Future Funding Committee was originally established in 2019 and expired in June of 2024. The decision to bring it back was made during the unanimous passing of an executive order during the Jan. 21 city council meeting. Mayor J.R. Knight said it will help them connect more with the financial needs of nonprofits.
Councilmembers on the committee are tasked with reviewing, evaluating, and making recommendations to the city council for future funding sources to include modifications to current sources of funds. They will also determine beneficial use of special funding allocations received from federal/state sources.
Their meetings will be open to the public with councilmembers Jason Bell, Chuck Crabtree, Don Marsh, Travis Martin, Clayton Sumner, and Michael Velez making up the committee and Amy Craig serving as the chair.
