George H. Whitaker, 86, of Kelly, KY died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Christian Health Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Mason, Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Kelly, KY he was born September 24, 1937 the son of the late Robert Lloyd Whitaker and Edna Bivins Whitaker. He had worked as a social worker at the TB Hospital at Western State Hospital. He also drove a truck and logged over 2 million miles accident free. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, AMVETS, and the American Legion. He was a member of Kelly Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Megan Tucker.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Linda Jones Whitaker; his sons: Daniel Whitaker of Owensboro, KY and Robert Kyle (Emily) Whitaker of Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
