HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville is fully embracing the city’s connection to paranormal history with the first ever GoblinCon UFO & Paranormal Expo on Oct. 17-18. This first iteration of the event lines up with the 70th anniversary of the Kelly Little Green Men encounter.

The small town of Kelly tucked in northern Christian County got its claim to fame after five adults and seven children reported seeing small alien creatures attacking their farmhouse on Aug. 21, 1955. The residents held off the ‘goblins’ with gunfire for nearly four hours before reporting the incident to Hopkinsville Police. They claimed to see 12 to 15 short, dark figures popping up in windows and doorways.

This encounter has inspired documentaries, several investigations by ufologists, remaining one of the most well documented alien encounters in the United States. On the anniversary this year, Hopkinsville held an Alien Invasion Day to celebrate this fun bit of local history, continuing on through the expo.
