HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man who has previously been convicted was arrested Tuesday night in Hopkinsville and charged with drug trafficking.
On April 28 around 7 p.m., an officer with the Hopkinsville Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Richard Street after a vehicle was seen turning left into a driveway without using a turn signal. 34-year-old Jamarvis Allen of Oak Grove was the passenger in the vehicle, with a male juvenile in the back seat.
Officers noted in the police report that the odor of marijuana was coming from the car. A search yielded a handgun that was on the front passenger side floorboard, a jar with marijuana and a digital scale that had a substantial amount of white powder on it. Additionally, officers found cash and four grams of suspected cocaine on Allen’s person.
He was found to be a convicted felon who was on felony diversion until 2027. He was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, trafficking in cocaine, and possession. The driver was not charged.
