Gwen Smith, 74, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 4:42 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon, TN.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Huck officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, TN. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home and Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at First United Methodist Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Ashland, KY she was born May 1, 1950 the daughter of the late William Guy “Bill” Feagans and Mary Katherine Ross Feagans. Gwen was a retired state employee having worked at Western State Hospital and the Green River Correctional Complex. Following retirement from the State of Kentucky, Gwen worked at Buck’s Ladies Shop and Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home.
Gwen was an active member of First United Methodist Church for over 30 years having served on the Board of Trustees, an usher, a member of the Hospitality Committee, and participated in many Youth Mission Trips.
In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her great nephew, Stetson McFarland.
Survivors include her son: Dr. Ross Harmon (Rachel) Smith of Melbourne, FL; her sister: Jo (Ed) Shewmaker of Lebanon, TN; her grandchildren: Reid Weston Smith and Raegan Avery Smith both of Viera, FL; her niece: Alisha (Nathan) McFarland of Murfreesboro, TN; her nephew: T.J. (Nik) Shewmaker of Gallatin, TN; and her two great nieces and nephew.
