HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County High School is taking shape internally as the multi-year construction project moves into final finishes. As the 2026-27 school year approaches, the CCPS Board of Education had dozens of previously budgeted purchases to approve that will fill the campus.
“All along our target was to facilitate furniture moving in in May, and we will achieve that goal,” said Tim Geeghan with Alliance. As the construction deadline approaches, he said they are pushing for a temporary certificate of occupancy within the next two weeks since their main systems are up and operational. This would permit them to begin moving in furniture.

Geeghan highlighted specific areas of the building, including the waffled ceiling and sound panels that were installed in the band/choir room that provide ideal acoustics for students.
In regard to the gym, Geeghan said the floor has gone down, bleachers are installed and the logos have been placed, describing the space as a “first class facility.” Assistant Superintendent Jason Wilson said he is excited about the approved purchase for high tech tables for scorers and media that will have built in LED screens to further elevate the collegiate feel of the gym. They also previously invested in a customized jumbotron with multiple screens.
At this point in construction, it is all about the details. Every piece of furniture has to be approved by the school board with the newest requests costing a couple hundred thousand dollars during the April 16 meeting. These purchases range from kitchen equipment, choral risers, staff laptops, wall graphics, and important safety tools for the Moderate and Severe Disability Rooms.
All of these purchases fall into the previously budget funds for construction, with the district’s contingency holding strong at around $3 million.
