HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Kayleigh Stout has stepped down from her position as head coach of the Tiger cheer team, and Austin Knight has left his position as head coach of the Tiger golf team. These resignations come a few days after Christian County boys’ basketball, head coach Toby Miles also left.

Coach Stout has led the Tigers cheer program at Hopkinsville High School for the last two years, including the team’s first ever qualifying and appearance in a national competition this past season, said a news release from Christian County Public Schools.

“It has been a dream come true to lead the HHS Cheer team these last 2 years,” said Coach Stout. “I am so proud of the girls and what we have been able to accomplish together. At this time, I am needing to step back and focus on my family and my career. I have full faith that this team will continue to grow on what we have built. I look forward to seeing what the future of HHS Cheer holds.”

The departure of Coach Knight from the Tiger golf team will also affect the athletics department. He has invested three years in the team.

“When a new chapter is beginning, some things have to be let go. I am getting married this summer and my family is moving to a different city. This is one of those things that is tough for me to let go,” said HHS Coach Knight. “The fact I was able to come back home after college and coach the program that impacted my life greatly is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. The players I was able to coach and impact have succeeded beyond anything I could’ve ever dreamed up, and I hope I had a small part of that for them. I want to thank Blake Leach, Jonathan King, and the entire HHS family for allowing me to lead this program for the 3 years I was here.”

In the coming weeks, the school system will begin the search to fill these positions.
