HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Muggy, humid weather with extreme temperatures is here to stay as the heat advisory extends through Thursday night.

The heat index is expected to peak at 110 degrees Wednesday and Thursday with 86% humidity. More rounds of storms are predicted at the end of the week, with temperatures staying in the high 90s. The main threats with these storms will be heavy rain and localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.

Due to the heatwave, the Hopkinsville Salvation Army opened a cooling station and has extended their emergency shelter hours.
