HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With a burst of storms hitting Tuesday night, people across Christian County experienced outages and damage, with some residents still waiting for power to be restored.

Hopkinsville EMS/Fire responded to five storm related incidents overnight, and a family was displaced after a home on Treasure Island Court was struck by lightning. The strike caused power to back feed into the house and caused large amounts of smoke to accumulate inside, according to Payton Rogers with Hopkinsville EMS/Fire. No major damage occurred to the home.

As of 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning, an outage map on the Pennyrile Electric website shows 540 members without power around the Princeton Road area in northern Christian County. Initially overnight, around 1,200 members were affected by outages, but the majority was restored.

Hopkinsville Electric System has not shared any outage information.
