HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A ceremony was held on May 8 as the City of Hopkinsville unveiled a street sign honoring community leader Raymond P. Gamble.
Gamble was described by the city as a beloved community leader, mentor, and friend who left an impact on Hopkinsville through his work and mentorship in the community. He opened Gamble Funeral Home on Liberty Street in 1987, and died in 2019 at the age of 68.
Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight was accompanied by city and county officials along with family of friends of Gamble at the ceremony on the corner of East 14th Street and Liberty Street. The street sign declares a portion of the road as Honorary Raymond P. Gamble Way.
“Surrounded by numerous family members, friends, and local officials, we celebrated the life and legacy of Mr. Gamble and the impact he made on generations of Hopkinsville residents,” said a statement from the City of Hopkinsville. “His deep commitment to uplifting others, his enduring spirit of service, and his dedication to this community made him a pillar of strength and inspiration.”
