HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Community College is supporting students through the holiday season by distributing boxes containing food for a Thanksgiving meal during the Great Gobble Giveaway.

“Many of our students have had times where they struggle with food insecurity, and this can be a major factor on whether or not students stay in college and persist to earning their credential,” said Emily Ray, the Marketing and Communications Officer with HCC.

125 food boxes will be distributed on the Hopkinsville campus at the Pathfinder Pantry in the Technology building, and 25 will be given out on the Fort Campbell campus. The college is partnered with Feeding America Kentucky’s Heartland to receive the food, and funds for the orders come from donations to the HCC Foundation.

Ray told Christian County Now that the boxes are comprised of a variety of nonperishable food items that students can use for their family Thanksgiving meal. “We are happy to offer the service of the Pathfinder Pantry and events like the Great Gobble Giveaway so we can help our students be successful in their educational journey,” she added.

The distribution will be on Tuesday, Nov. 19 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Students who would like to receive a box are encouraged to arrive early to ensure there is food available.
