HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Fire Department is currently working to contain a fire located at the Hopkinsville Landfill on Thursday morning, as the plume of smoke can be seen from miles out.
According to HFD spokesperson Payton Rodgers, a large area of suspected tires is burning on the south end of the landfill. HFD is providing coverage for heavy equipment operators as they work to move dirt and contain the fire.
“At this time, there are no life safety or exposure threats,” said a Hopkinsville Fire Department Facebook post at 7:58 a.m.
