While Christian County eventually scored, Hopkinsville High added on two more touchdowns for insurance, earning a huge 40-7 rivalry win. Hopkinsville head coach Craig Clayton said the victory was the culmination of all the hard work every member of this program has put in.
“We’ve got good players, and we’ve got good coaches,” Clayton said. “Our offensive line dominated, and we have good athletes to run behind them. That’s how we want to win, run the ball, make teams throw it, and create turnovers in the secondary.”
Christian County head coach Zachary Self thought there were opportunities, but his team was not able to take advantage of them, which put them in a hole early.
“We just have to make plays, and we didn’t tonight,” Self said. “Now we have to turn around and go right back to it next week.”
