HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library received a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Andrew Carnegie, who founded the Carnegie Corporation of New York in 1911, funded the construction of 1,681 free public libraries in the United States between 1886 and 1917.

“Carnegie libraries were built on the belief that access to knowledge is the surest path to literacy, self-improvement, and opportunity,” said Tiffany Luna, Executive Director, HCCPL. “That same foundation endures today at HCCPL, where the mission remains unchanged: to empower individuals, strengthen our community, and open doors through a lifelong love of reading. This gift will help to continue making that mission possible.”

HCCPL is one of 1,280 libraries nationwide who qualified for the gift. Gift recipients may use the funds however they wish to further their mission and benefit their community.
