HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man was arrested this morning after fleeing authorities in a high-speed chase, according to a news release from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a CCSO arrest citation, the vehicle was travelling on the Pennyrile Parkway SB at 118 mph. An officer attempted a traffic stop but the suspect took off reaching 130 mph as he went down the Parkway and onto Interstate 24. The vehicle continued to make aggressive lane changes, putting other motorists at risk of death or injury.
Once the vehicle was in a safer location, authorities performed a Precision Immobilization Technique to end the pursuit. The vehicle was immobilized and the driver was taken into custody. Officers searched the vehicle and located illegal narcotics and other items of drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was arrested and charged with speeding, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first degree wanton endangerment, failure to use proper signal, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, no insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
