HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 37-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after firing a gun through an apartment and inappropriately exposing himself.

Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were called to apartments at Cooperfield Drive on May 10 around 10 p.m. when shots were fired in the area.  An arrest report from says the suspect had unlawfully entered an apartment and exposed his genitals to the residents inside. He then pulled out a gun and attempted to point it at an adult male in the apartment.

The two engaged in a brief altercation, and the suspect was pushed out of the apartment. He then fired a shot through the front door from the outside.

A male matching the description of the suspect was spotted by HPD when they arrived on the scene. When officers approached the suspect at gunpoint, he continued to walk away and ignore commands. He was eventually detained on the other side of the apartment building.

Officers determined that the suspect was manifestly under the influence of alcohol and later admitted to jail staff that he had been drinking. The suspect was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the arrest. Conditions of his release included no use of alcohol or narcotics, and prohibited acts of violence.

He is facing nine charges including wanton endangerment, burglary, indecent exposure, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and fleeing police.
