HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Grace Episcopal Church, located in the heart of downtown Hopkinsville, is inviting the community to share in the sixth annual Festival of Lessons and Carols.
A news release describes the event as a family-friendly service featuring a choir, organ, and regional brass ensemble The Cumberland Winds Brass Quintet. The church is also excited to add a timpani to their ensemble of musicians.
“The opportunity to sing carols, accompanied by brass and timpani is joyful and unique in our community. The carols are familiar to any person, regardless of Christian denomination. This is a communal experience for all to participate. The Episcopal Church is a church that enjoys robust singing, and joining voices with the choir is a delight for everyone who attends,” shared Wayne Eastham, Grace’s Organist/Choirmaster.
Hopkinsville Mayor James R. Knight will join other community members in Scripture readings, along with Planters Bank Vice President Treasury Management Consultant and Chair of the Christian County Chamber of Commerce Eyvette Sellers, University Heights Academy English Department Head, US English, US Art teacher Faye Hendricks, and Lipstick After Dark, Girls Mentoring team member Jacqueline Porchia.
This free event is open to the public on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. It will last about an hour and will be followed by a festive reception with treats provided from members of the church.
