HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Kentucky Recreation and Park Society awarded Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation for Outstanding Department-Class III and Outstanding Program-Class III. The department currently consists of 13 full-time employees who produce over 100 events and programs each year.

A news release from the department says the award for Outstanding Department – Class III recognizes an outstanding Kentucky Recreation Department who has contributed to the quality of life in their community through programming, facilities, and community engagement.

The award for Outstanding Program – Class III is in recognition of the 7th Annual Summer Salute Festival for offering a unique enhancement to the quality of life in the field of recreation and leisure service within a community.

Toby Hudson, Superintendent, and Rachel Sanders, Marketing Coordinator, attended the conference and award ceremony on behalf of the department.

“Once again the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Division has set the standard in Kentucky,” said Mayor James R. Knight Jr. “Our team continually adds value to the quality of life for every resident in this city. I couldn’t be more proud.”
