HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – An armed suspect led multiple police agencies on a chase from Elizabethtown to Hopkinsville. According to Elizabethtown Police Department, the suspect shot three people in the parking lot of the city courthouse the morning of Aug. 19. EPD confirmed that two female victims died from their injuries, and one man is being treated for his injuries.
The suspect fled, further involving the Hopkinsville Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office, and Kentucky State Police. During the pursuit, the suspect pointed a rifle at officers several times.
The chase ended in a church parking lot in Hopkinsville on Greenville Road near Judges Chapel Road. HPD and CCSO led negotiations with the suspect for about 90 minutes when he used the gun to attempt to take his own life, according to a news release from HPD.
Due to the gunshot wound sustained to the suspects head, he was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital and is in critical condition.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Police Department is asking the public to avoid the area of Greenville Road and Judges Chapel Road while they work with several law enforcement agencies to negotiate with an armed subject. The standoff began around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
The Christian County and Muhlenburg County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kentucky State Police and HPD are all on the scene. The person involved in the standoff is experiencing a mental health crisis, according to a news release from HPD.
