HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A friendly game between the Hopkinsville Police Department and the Hopkinsville High School Lady Tigers helped raise funds for the team’s upcoming season.
Parents and friends filled the stands, cheering on the home team as both sides continued to score. Even HPD Chief Jason Newby got the ball, working in tandem with the other officers on the court. In the end, the HPD officers pulled ahead with a final score of 62-54.
The team was able to raise over $300, along with a donation from the police department.
“Coach Leslie and School Resource Officer Cory Smith came up with the idea to have this fundraiser basketball game to not only support the Lady Tigers but to have a positive community event where officers and students can engage in some friendly competition,” Royale Marfil with HPD previously said.
