HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Police Department and the Division of Probation and Parole conducted an intensive community sweep to arrest people with active warrants on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Police served 24 warrants of arrest, which included violent offenses such as robbery.
Officials say there is a distinct correlation between people wanted for criminal offenses and new crimes being committed before being located.
Warrants are entered into the system every day, explains Jason Newby, Chief of Police. “I feel it is important every now and then to conduct a sweep such as this to get as many warrants served as possible,” Newby said.
Newby further explains that whenever these sweeps are conducted, they lead to other types of arrest such as possession of weapons or drugs. “It is just a positive all around detail.”
