HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A law enforcement serving as an escort for Santa through downtown was involved in a crash Sunday afternoon in Hopkinsville.
Around 2:45 p.m., the Hopkinsville Fire Department/EMS responded to an accident involving a sedan and a Hopkinsville Police Department vehicle near the 1200 block of West Seventh Street. Both vehicles went off the side of the roadway, with the HPD vehicle rolling over and striking a pole. Payton Rogers with HFD told Christian County Now that two patients were assessed on the scene but refused medical transport.
The HPD vehicle involved in the wreck was escorting a firetruck who was carrying Santa around downtown during the “Santa is Coming to Hoptown” event. The firetruck Santa was riding in was not involved in the accident.
