Hopkinsville, KY – As temperatures are set to plummet to well below freezing this weekend and into next and the forecast predicting snowfall, The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, KY is gearing up to provide crucial support to those in need in our community.
Anticipating the challenges posed by the severe weather conditions, The Salvation Army is taking the following steps to ensure the safety and well-being of the community:
- Emergency Weather Shelter Services: The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, KY is prepared to open our Emergency Weather Shelter when the temperature is 20 degrees or below (windchill/actual temperature), providing a safe and warm place for people seeking refuge from the cold. Our shelter is located at 313 E. 7th St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240. On nights when it is open, it will be available 7pm-7am the following morning. The Emergency Weather Shelter will be open beginning Friday, 1/12/2024.
- Regular Shelter Services: Our regular shelter services will continue, and guests are welcome to check-in at 4pm if a bed is available. The regular shelter is located at 301 E. 7th Street and open from 4pm-7:30am.
- Warming Center Availability: The Salvation Army Admin office lobby will be open beginning Tuesday, 1/16/2024 from 9am-4pm to provide relief from the weather. Our admin office is located at 304 E. 7th Street Hopkinsville, KY 42240. The Salvation Army Soup Kitchen Dining Room will be open 1/13/2024 from 9am-12:30pm (313 E. 7th Street). The Salvation Army Worship Center will be open on Sunday, 1/14/2024 from 9am-12:30pm (310 E. 7th St).
- Cold Weather Items: Hats, gloves, and socks are available (while supplies last) through our admin office. Simply come in from 9am-4pm, M-F, to request. Our admin office is located at 304 E. 7th Street Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
