Farewell reception, history in Hopkinsville
To honor the Donegan family and celebrate their ministry in Hopkinsville, a Community Farewell Reception has been planned for June 14, immediately following the morning worship service in The Salvation Army Hope Center Dining Hall. The Donegan’s will host a community lunch as an opportunity to personally thank the many friends, supporters, volunteers, donors, and community partners who have stood beside them during their time in Hopkinsville.
Since arriving in Hopkinsville two years ago, the Donegans have brought renewed energy, compassion, and vision to The Salvation Army’s mission throughout the community. Their leadership has strengthened partnerships, expanded outreach efforts, and deepened The Salvation Army’s commitment to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, and crisis.
Though their time in Hopkinsville has been brief, the Donegan’s have faithfully served communities throughout Western Kentucky for the past five years. During their previous appointment in Paducah, they were honored as Duke and Duchess of Paducah in recognition of their dedication and community impact. This past year, Captain David Donegan was also named an Honorary Kentucky Colonel for his leadership and service following the devastating December 2021 tornadoes that impacted Western Kentucky.
“The people of Hopkinsville have become family to us,” said Lt. David Donegan. “We are grateful for every relationship, every prayer, every volunteer, and every opportunity we have had to serve this incredible community.”
Lt. Brittney Donegan added, “Hopkinsville will always hold a special place in our hearts. We have witnessed God do amazing things here through the kindness and generosity of this community.”
The Salvation Army invites the entire community to attend the June 14 farewell reception and help celebrate the ministry and service of the Donegan family as they prepare for their new appointment.
