HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Locally owned Honey & Hatch was awarded a $10,000 SEED Grant from Planters Bank in Hopkinsville. This annual grant competition helps support growing businesses who have a positive impact on the community. According to Assistant Marketing Director Sydney Myers, this year they had around 50 locally owned and operated businesses submit entries.
“Local businesses really are the heart of our community. The SEED Grant helps them take that next step, whether it’s growing, creating jobs, or finding new ways to serve the area,” she told Christian County Now. “At the end of the day, our goal is to plant the seeds that lead to long-term success.”
Planters Bank shared that Nature Intended is a women-owned agricultural business based in Hopkinsville, specializing in premium cover crop and forage seed for farmers, government agencies, and home gardeners.
Founded in 2020 and officially launched in 2024, the business also operates an online retail brand, Honey & Hatch, offering high-quality, eco-friendly seed mixes for backyard growers, conservationists, and hobbyists nationwide, including beekeepers and backyard or free-range chicken growers.
“Their application showed creativity and a real commitment to serving their communities,” said Myers. “They were able to share their story in a way that felt genuine and showed just how passionate they are about their business and what this grant could help them accomplish.”
Honey & Hatch’s mission is to make regenerative, sustainable agriculture accessible to farmers, agencies, gardeners and all growers by providing superior seed products, innovative services, and education to restore soils, support biodiversity/pollinators, and strengthen communities.
